129. 208 Feedback And Reinforcement.

This paper discussed feedback and reinforcement. Theorist Skinner suggested that feedback was widely misused as reinforcement. However, Skinner also suggested reinforcement as control over changes in the environment and made it sound very much like a feedback variable. But, the two constructs -- feedback and reinforcement - are two entirely different theories and labels for behavioral processes and should never be used as synonyms. This was the point of contention in Skinner's argument. An argument, I have to agree with. Although, these processes may be somewhat similar, they are not the same thing. Today's investigation allow us to describe certain aspects of feedback and reinforcing processes as similar, as they both contain informational qualities.

130. 456 Four Paradigms for Psychology.

This study guide examines the four basic paradigms of psychology and gives an example of each. It is told in the first person. Psychology is a very interesting thing and it is it has many different approaches. The people who support different schools of psychology believe that they have the right approach, but they really might not. There are so many ways to try and study human behavior and there is not one paradigm in psychology that has been able to completely prove that it is right and that it is the way to explain why people act the way that they do. But there are good things that can be taken from each approach to psychology and there are things that can be used from each one to put things together so that it is possible to have a real understanding of psychology and how people act.

131. 448 The Different Approaches to The Psychological Inquiry.

This study guide explains the different fields of psychology and gives examples of each. Behavioralism, psychoanalytical approaches, and biological perspectives are discussed. Psychology is best defined as the study of the human mind. It looks at behavior, thoughts, and actions committed by human beings. Psychology is not an exact science, but since the time of Freud it has been an increasing study and the quest for understanding the human mind and action. Also, since that time there has been several different approaches developed for psychology and each perspective seems to attribute human behaviors and actions to different factors. The biological, cognitive, behavioral, and humanistic approaches each attempt to explain human behavior, but most realistically a holistic approach, which encompasses all of these different systems, is probably the most appropriate.

132. 465 The Many Fields of Psychology.

This paper examines the fields of psychology and explains what each is. Psychology is not an exact science, but it employs the scientific methods in its efforts to discover the reasons for human behavior. However, human behavior is quite complex and a great mystery and for any psychologist to attempt to study the whole of human behavior in mass would be quite difficult. Because of this fact the field of psychology has been divided into a myriad of sub-specialties. By doing this it is possible for each field to be studied completely and then the various levels of understanding can be integrated into one comprehensive theory of psychology and the workings of the human mind. Experimental, social, education and clinical psychology are explained. Industrial, counseling and clinical psychologists and their jobs are also explained.

133. 481 Right Brain/Left Brain: Making the Best of Each Side.

This paper examines the dynamics and functions of the right and left side of the brain. It uses biological, social, and emotional standards to measure the function of each side of the brain. It outlines the function of each side of the brain and draws conclusions about the relative value of right and left-brain individuals. Does man have two brains? Not really, but the human brain is divided into a right and left hemisphere and each hemisphere of the brain performs different functions. One side is often dominant over the other and this leads to the expression, left-brainers and right-brainers. The left?brainers are the great thinkers and scientists and the right?brainers are the artists, but these perceptions of the left and right brain hemispheres and the power they have over the development of personality and behavior traits may be slightly overstated. Some people do use one side of their brains more than others, but the two halves work together and each person has the ability to make the best of what each side of his brain has to offer.
